That’s an Alpine A310. With a 4 cylinder. And it’s phenomenal. I find this utterly mesmerizing. Especially the part with the goats.

This sound makes you wonder why they ever started using the PRV instead. The 4 cylinders used by Alpine and Gordini are absolute gems, like many other high strung 4 cylinders of the era.
Despite also having a Renault 4 cylinder, my Twingo sadly doesn’t sound this good, haha

I need one, give now. I’m twitching a little about the hand position, but the car, the road, the scenery, yes yes yes. Surprised at the gap between 3rd & 4th gears though, that’s quite the canyon to cross for what must be a peaky little 1600.

Those guys really knew how to perform magic with a small engine. Some incredible feats of engineering.
The Twingo has its own charm, though. You can always tell it’s really trying.

Agreed! The 1600 is definitely the one to get. I love the sound of a 6-pot but this is almost as glorious but definitely the more balanced package!

Less is usually more. It’s got to be so much better balanced with less weight behind you. I’d like to drive both back to back. Can you set that up for my next visit?

Hmmm... A V6 is an option as there’s relatively plenty around but a 4-pot: these are unicorns! But I’m not shy for a challenge...
